"There are those who care and
there are those who really care.
Those who care become those who really care
after they lose what they care for."
"Be one of those who really care
and
you may be able to keep what you care for."
Hunter and Angler Complacency is our
Real Enemy
While the threats
to hunting and fishing in this province are numerous, one of the
greatest threats comes from within. That’s right, sportsmen and
women are their own worst enemy. A very small percentage is willing
to stand up to protect what they believe in. We have become a
society of secret hunters and anglers that would rather accept the
fate handed to us by the politicians than cry foul. We have become
so complacent that the government never thinks twice about not only
taking away opportunity, but also enacting regulations that may well
jeopardize the future of fish and wildlife in this province.
Can one voice
really make a difference? Of course it can and when you combine that
voice with the hundreds of thousands of other hunters and anglers in
this province, that voice becomes so loud that our elected
politicians have to listen. But, it all starts with you caring
enough to speak up for what you believe in and taking the time to
let other Albertans know about the threats to our natural resources.
That powerful unified voice begins with one outcry from an
individual like you.

Currently, in most
parts of Alberta, the wait for a licenced recreational
hunter to get drawn for a moose tag is approximately 4
years. With the existence of the Interim Métis
Harvesting Agreement, your wait may become 6 or 8 years
or non-existent in many parts of the province. Are you
willing to accept this? |
In the pages of this web site you will find all the resources you
require to help you be heard and to help you make a difference in
the proper management of our precious natural resources. Start by
writing a letter, sending an e-mail or making a telephone call. Help
spread the word to your fellow sportsmen and women and encourage
them to be heard as well. Not only can you make a difference, you
can become the difference in ensuring that Alberta’s fish and
wildlife receive the care and proper management they deserve. |
