"It is not only for what we do that we are held responsible,
but also for what we do not do."

Molière (Jean-Baptiste Poquelin) 1622-1673

What Can You Do?

Be aware that these are “interim” agreements will be replaced by “Long Term Agreements” sometime in the near future. Therefore, your MLA and the respective ministers need to hear from you as soon as possible about your concerns with these interim agreements and the future of wildlife conservation in this province.

There are several ways to make your views known.

1. Go the government of Alberta web site (www.gov.ab.ca) and click on the link, “Contact Your MLA,” where you will be directed to a list of sitting MLAs and their contact information. Find yours and obtain their mailing and e-mail addresses.

2. Write a letter or e-mail message. Stay focused on the issue. Keep the letter or message as short as possible. Don't drag in unrelated issues. Don't run-down groups of people or otherwise give the politician or his or her handlers an excuse to dismiss your concerns. Have respect for the politician.

3. Send the letter or message to your MP and MLA.

We need sportsmen and women to pass the address of this website to everyone they can. We need sportsmen and women to contact their MLAs, write them a letter and bring attention to this issue. The government will listen to a loud enough voice – and we need to be that voice!!

The public must understand that our opposition to this agreement is not driven by a dislike of the Métis culture. This agreement is bad for wildlife, bad for Albertans, and, it really is bad for Métis as well. What may seem like a short term good has long term bad consequences for Métis as well.

This in an interim agreement, which will lead to a final agreement if no one raises the alarm bell. We need to work with as many conservation groups as we can get on side to change this agreement to one that will not have any more negative impact on wildlife than is possible.
